Hi!

I'm Joe. I'm a Visual Resources Librarian at the University at Buffalo, State University of New York (SUNY). As the manager of a department-based library, my workdays are primarily centered around helping our faculty discover digital media, and new ways of incorporating it into their teaching, research, and service. Through this position, I've become interested in the technologies that will fuel the next generation of digital libraries, such as:

  • Using relational data models, semantic networks, and xml-based thesaurii to develop new kinds of library environments.
  • XML-driven information sharing, developing layered schemas around national and institutional standards, project-specific needs, and end-user contributions.
  • Knowledge Management issues relating to collaborative cataloging, staff training, and non-curated assets (such as personal media)
  • Transforming information systems to meet the users where they are -- plugin development for desktop search software, clip-art browsers. How digital libraries transform "the library as place" -- and integrate in brick-and-mortar offerings.
  • Information-seeking behavior in the cultural heritage community, and particulary requests which originate from non-verbal reasoning.

Hello World

Hi!

I'm Joe, and I'm still playing around with Joomla. I hope this works!
